Formwork Tie Rod, Wing Nut, Anchor Nut & Water Stopper Guide

Concrete formwork tie systems work as an assembly. The tie rod provides the threaded tension member, while compatible wing nuts or anchor nuts secure the shuttering system. Where the project calls for water-resistant detailing around through-wall tie locations, a formwork water stopper or water barrier may also be specified.

Tie Rod

Specify diameter, thread, overall length, material or finish and quantity. See our Scaffolding Tie Rod page.

Scaffolding Wing Nut

Specify the matching tie rod thread or diameter, wing nut type or drawing, finish and quantity. See Scaffolding Wing Nut.

Anchor Nut

Anchor nut selection depends on the tie-rod thread and the formwork system. Share dimensions or the project drawing where available. See Formwork Anchor Nut.

Water Stopper / Water Barrier

For retaining walls, basements, water tanks and other water-retaining structures, the drawing may call for a water stopper at the tie-rod path. See Formwork Water Stopper.

What to Send for a Quotation

Send the BOQ or drawing together with tie rod diameter/thread, rod length, wing nut and anchor nut type, water stopper dimensions, material/finish, quantities and delivery location. Excel Construction Materials can quote the related scaffolding and formwork components together.
